Attorney Joseph S. Agnello
I am a Christian first
and foremost, before attorney or any other title, and a family man second.
The legal advice I give and the steps I take in representing my clients, are
all based on the principles that those two titles embrace. My view in all
types of representation that I undertake, whether assisting in the selling or
buying of a home or business, or defending someone on significant criminal
charges, is to address my clients’ issues and concerns as I would want to
be represented. In other words, I see my clients as real people, who have
come to me for help, not just because they require a lawyer’s involvement.
Being raised in Chicago and the Chicago suburbs, I care a great deal about our communities. I currently live in the northwest suburbs with my wife and two children, and regularly practice throughout the whole Chicagoland area.
At 19 years old, I left the Chicago area to serve in the United States Air Force, after which I returned to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago where I received a degree in history. Following that, I went on to The John Marshall Law School, where I graduated in 2002, and entered the Illinois Bar later that year. In 2018 I also had the honor of being admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar.
My career started as a prosecutor for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, beginning with criminal appeals and child support enforcement and then criminal prosecutions. In 2005, I changed directions and entered private practice, where I have concentrated my practice in real estate transactions, but have also successfully defended hundreds of criminal and traffic cases. I greatly enjoy the challenge of a courtroom, however, I equally enjoy the balance that transactional work brings to my practice.
I am a member of the Christian Legal Society, Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, Attorneys’ Title Guaranty Fund, and the Chicago Title Insurance Company. I currently attend Village Church of Bartlett, and am a member of Christian Business Fellowship, member of the board of trustees for Koinonia House National Ministries, a prison and post-prison ministry, and a volunteer with the Christian legal aid organization Administer Justice.
Above all, I seek to honor God through my practice as a follower of Jesus Christ, and a portion of the legal fees my office receives goes to support various Christian ministries, primarily in the Chicagoland area.
